Stark's gambling vacation in Vegas is interrupted when he is taken for a ride by a couple of silent goons working for the casino's owner, the notorious Duke Ballantine (a former client of Stark's). Stark thinks he's been busted for counting cards, but Duke actually wants Stark to represent him. Brad Swift, his head of casino operations, is lying dead in his mansion having fallen from a high balcony onto a glass table. Stark tries to turn him down, but Duke knows Stark still has a license to practice law in Nevada. He offers Stark a three-million dollar retainer. That gets Stark's attention, and he asks for five; done. Stark's back working for the bad guys again...
