[16 days' trip] Milan / Rome -> Croatia -> Slovenia

Hi there!

I am planning a 16 days' trip to Croatia and Slovenia and my starting will be Milan or Rome.

1) Which city is a better choice as my starting point? Milan or Rome?
2) How to go to Croatia / Slovenia from Italy?  I prefer ferry. If possible, please provide me some details or link about the ferry.
3) Please advise a suitable route.
4) Will I be short of time to visit these countries? I mean Croatia and Slovenia.
5) Please advise some "must go" cities and sightseeing points.

THANK YOU VERY VERY VERY MUCH!!!

So for Italy, you will stay only for Milan & Rome?
How about those city in the chianti ? e.g. Florence, Siena, Piza
Venice ?

Slovenia, you can vist Bled, which is a nice little place
Croatia, the best will be the national park ( forgot the name, something start with Pixxxx Lake )
and Split & Durbovnik is super good but it is on the south side of Croatia

What time you are going ? Summer ?

You can take ferry from ITaly to Croatia Dubrovnik/ Split (but it will be an overnight ferry ride)
The ferry company name start with Jardxxxxx (forgot)

may be you can skip slovenia, coz 16 days is tight for Italy n Croatia
You can also fly from Italy to Croatia. (much faster than ferry ride, or overnight bus ride)

anybody can help me?

I havent take the ferry before ... but remember to check the schedule because April I rmb, the ferry is less frequent.

I suppose you need to enter and exit in the same place

if it is milan,
fly into Milan, Train to Croatia Captial, Zagreb ( i guess around 6 hour)
go up to slovenia capital, Ljunbjana, you can finish visit it in a half day
then bus to Bled (you can stay their overnight)
after that train back to Zagreb and then Bus to Split (overnight bus), i rmb it takes 8 hours ...
From Split you can bus to Dubrovnik and ferry to the Islands, e.g. Hvar
Split, Dubrovnik and Hvar, will worth 4 - 5 days at least .
After Dubrovnik, you can take overnight bus to Trieste (italy) which you can train back to Milan ( around 4- 5 hours)

In between Zagreb and Split, there is the pitxxxx national park which you can visit ( but I havent)

There is airport near Durbovnik, which you can take budget airline, not very expensive
there may be routes between Dubrovnik and Milan or Rome, so that you can save one leg of using bus transport and save some time.

I havent take the ferry, so I am not sure about the situation of Rome to Pescara

I think this the ferry from croatia to italy
which should be split to ancona
and dubrovnik to bari

but if you have to go to slovenia, you still have one leg need to use ground transport (e.g. bus / train)
