公司部機行得好慢,下發覺原來冇set HDPARM
咁我用root行

/dev/hdc:

你入反去BIOS 裡面先set 反好個Harddisk mode先
你係用P-ATA or S-ATA ?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               

部機長開,只一個月左右先restart, 咁都自己reset bios to default?
聽日去試下set反個bios先
個harddrive 係sata 但我估行legacy ide mode.

By the way, set錯bios會唔會抄左個Linux OS呀呢?

唔係set 做Default
原因係你set DMA mode
必須要先在BIOS set 好先
並且最好enable 埋個32-bit access

唔好set PIO mode
那是好舊既P-ATA才會使用
例如IDE CD-ROM                                                                                                                                                                                                                       

I meant, my system bios shouldn't reset to default. Since it's has an UPS. Unless there is a total power off one night.

Reboot 入去就得

But our server is in datacenter :p
Maybe.....

1. system over heat -> reset -> bios reset
2. someone who share the same rack, unplug our server and put the power back on... and cause the bios reset.

你用緊乜野O/S and Kernel version?

Redhat 9.0 Linux version 2.4.20-8smp

Upgrade the kernel to 2.4.20.xxxxx still has same problem.
Run a live CD and the hard drive is at full speed.
So pretty sure it's software problem.                                                                                                                                                                                                                       

RedHat 9.0...  久違的 Redhat version!
