I'd argue linux support for international language is better than Windows.

In Ubuntu, make sure you install the support for that language that you need under Settings->Administrator->Language (or something like that, I don't use ubuntu).

i use ubuntu too..
but can you read chinese pdf ?
I can read but the layout is terrible...
