HKG -->> BKK, if take UA, have you check the flight session? It is from HKG (UA895) -> SIN (UA804) -> NRT (UA891)-> BKK, I don't think it is so easy for your milage redeem.
Alternative, UA may contact her alliance to accept your reddem, then the control is by their alliance, not UA
